Rotator Cuff Tear Treatment in Bromley

Damage to shoulder tendons that may cause pain, weakness, and difficulty lifting the arm.
Condition

What Is a Rotator Cuff Tear?

The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles and tendons that help stabilise and move the shoulder joint. A rotator cuff tear occurs when one of these tendons becomes partially or fully torn.

This can happen suddenly following a fall or lifting injury, or develop gradually over time due to repeated strain or age-related changes in the tendon.

Rotator cuff tears can make it difficult to lift the arm, reach overhead or perform everyday activities that involve the shoulder.

People with a rotator cuff tear may experience:

  • Pain in the shoulder, particularly when lifting the arm
  • Weakness in the shoulder
  • Difficulty reaching overhead or behind the back
  • Pain when lying on the affected shoulder
  • Reduced range of movement

Symptoms may develop suddenly after an injury or gradually over time.

At The Bromley Physiotherapy and Injury Rehab Clinic, we assess shoulder movement, strength and function to understand the extent of the problem.

Treatment may include:

  • Exercises to strengthen the shoulder muscles
  • Mobility work to improve shoulder movement
  • Soft tissue treatment to reduce muscle tension
  • Advice on modifying activities that aggravate symptoms

The aim is to improve shoulder strength, restore movement and support recovery so you can return to normal activities.
