What Is Postural Pain?
Postural pain refers to discomfort that develops when the body remains in the same position for prolonged periods, placing increased strain on muscles and joints.
Modern daily activities such as desk work, computer use, driving and prolonged phone use can place repeated stress on areas such as the neck, shoulders and lower back. Over time, this can lead to muscle tightness, joint stiffness and general discomfort.
Postural pain often develops gradually and may become more noticeable after long periods of sitting or standing.
Common Symptoms
People experiencing postural pain may notice:
- Aching in the neck, shoulders or lower back
- Muscle tightness or tension
- Discomfort after prolonged sitting or desk work
- Stiffness when changing position
- Fatigue in the upper back or shoulders
Symptoms often improve temporarily with movement or stretching.

- Strengthening exercises for postural muscles
- Advice on workstation setup and daily habits
The aim is to reduce strain on the body, improve movement and help prevent symptoms from returning.
